TOPDON ArtiDiag800 BT 2 Diagnostic Scanner

The ArtiDiag800 BT 2 is a compact wireless diagnostic scanner for workshops, technicians and serious automotive users who need full-system diagnostics, bi-directional testing and a broad range of service functions.

Bluetooth 5.0 communication allows wireless diagnosis around the vehicle. CAN FD support expands coverage for newer vehicles, while secure gateway access including FCA SGW and Renault Gateway provides access to supported diagnostic functions on compatible late-model vehicles.

Full-System Diagnostics

Access major vehicle systems across more than 80 vehicle makes, including engine, transmission, ABS, SRS, body and gateway modules where supported. Functions include ECU information, reading and clearing diagnostic trouble codes and viewing live data.

Bi-Directional Active Tests

Send commands directly to supported vehicle components such as fans, injectors and fuel pumps to help confirm faults and isolate problems without unnecessary disassembly.

28+ Service Functions

More than 28 maintenance functions cover common workshop procedures including service resets, electronic parking brake service, steering angle calibration, battery registration and DPF functions, depending on vehicle support.

Live Data and AutoVIN

View live data as values or graphs and merge up to four data streams for comparison. AutoVIN identifies supported vehicles automatically, while data recording and diagnostic reports assist with fault finding and customer reporting.

Experience

After using the TOPDON ArtiDiag 800 BT 2 for one week, my overall experience has been very positive. The tool performs well and offers great value for its features, especially compared to other diagnostic tools I’ve used.

The interface is user-friendly and well-designed, making it easy to navigate once you get familiar with it. However, one issue I noticed is that it can be confusing to switch between the Diagnosis and OBDII functions, particularly when choosing between auto scan and manual scan options.

The auto scan feature has limitations, especially with JDM imported vehicles, as it struggles to read VINs. That said, the manual selection works well, which helps get around this issue.

I’m still unsure about what the “lifetime updates” fully include, as it’s not very clearly explained, but it does seem like a strong selling point.

Overall, the ArtiDiag 800 BT 2 performs very well and, in my experience, is better than the Snap-on ETHOS EDGE that company provides in terms of usability and value. It’s a solid diagnostic tool, especially for the price, with only minor areas that could be improved.
